  • CSS3 Today! Introduction to CSS3.

    0

Even though the CSS3 spec is not 100% complete, all the major browsers are now supporting it making it ready to use today! Due to the spec not being finish thought you generally have to use the browser prefix so it can get a little long winded… None the less, you can achieve so much more than with javascript alone.

  • JQuery 1.5(.1) now released

    0

So because I’ve been too busy with developing and trying to keep up with everything else in life I really have not been able to update my blog for a while. So if you have been silly enough to check frequently then you’ve been bored and for that I’m sorry. But… Good news is jQuery 1.5 has been released then before I’ve even decided to write about it 1.5.1 has also been released.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it has been so much more stable than 1.4.x – I pretty much bypassed that whole release as it was full of bugs and was a step backwards for jQuery in my opinion. 1.5.x has proven to redeem itself and proven to be faster and more stable then the previous 1.4.x release. Fingers crossed it stays that way and I don’t run into any major compatibility issues. 1.4.x was particularly unstable IE7.

You can get more details or download jQuery from jquery.com

  • Facebook is killing itself

    8

You may remember a few years back there was a little old site called MySpace, MySpace was everywhere, anyone under the ages of 21 had it. Then came along Facebook, it was confusing at first and no-one really knew what it was. People liked it for 2 reasons, 1 it was easy to join and 2 it was trendy. MySpace then became less cool as it just copied Facebook. Today MySpace is nothing less than a site that bands create profiles for no-one to look at.

  • The death of Flash.

    8

I’ve always been against Adobe Flash. It’s slow, CPU consuming, insecure, painful to work with and overly very user unfriendly. Finally my dislike for Flash is being met with by powerful companies who are all now rallying against Flash and pushing towards HTML 5.

  • Manipulating Images in PHP: Easy GD functions to make editing images easier.

    5

Having done quite a bit of delving into using GD to do tasks such as resize images, rotate images and crop images I’ve found it’s quite a long process to code something that should be rather simple. To make it easier I’ve created a set of functions to do these simple tasks, simply…

  • YouTube supports HTML 5 to rid Flash

    3

YouTube has just launched an opt-in beta to support a HTML 5 instead of the flash player that we’re used to. If you’re like me you try to avoid using Flash where-ever possible, and HTML 5′s video support is a step closer to a Flash-free web.

  • How to make a div stretch to 100% of the window height & fixing the background color or image not covering the entire window

    0

I know, it’s massively long title, but I thought I’d fix too issues with 1 post as they both have the identical solution. The main one is when creating some sites recently they were fairly short designs and bizarrely the CSS background color didn’t fill the window. This was puzzling, but I did find a solution. The other issue is when you’re trying to make a div to stretch to fill a window, it doesn’t like to do it, the solution for this is the same as the other issue.
